What You Gotta Want, What You Gotta Need
Part Two
After a couple of years of wishing and wanting I gave paddle boarding a try. There is a place in Destin that sells paddle boards and they have a small lake behind their building where you can try the board. Not only that but they have an instructor that will give you tips on how to be successful. When I visited the instructor actually got on a board beside me and coached me. Everything that I needed was supplied so that success was attainable. Use the equipment the way I was taught and follow the instructions and boom, I could be cruising with the dolphins.
One of my favorite stories in the Bible talks about an experience just like this one. Grab your Bible and turn to Matthew 14.
Matthew 14 starts off with the death of John the Baptist. You may recall that John the Baptist was a cousin of Jesus and was the one that baptized Him. The disciples had to break the news of John’s death to Jesus and on hearing the news, Jesus withdrew to a remote place to be alone. When the crowds heard, they followed and even in His grief, He had compassion on them and healed their sick.
It was getting late and being in a deserted place the disciples were ready to send the crowds away because they had no food for them. Jesus had a different plan, determine what you have and bring it. I wonder if they mumbled and grumbled like I would have: “There isn’t enough here to feed all these people. We are just wasting time. Jesus must be grief stricken and doesn’t understand how many people there are. I’ll do this but only to show Him we don’t have enough.” What would have been your response to feed five thousand men besides women and children? Add to that, with five loaves and 2 fish?
This is the point, when you are in the company of Jesus YOU don’t have to have a lot. It isn’t about us having what it takes, it’s about taking what we have and giving it to Him. Case in point, Jesus took the five loaves and two fish looked up to heaven, blessed them, divided the food into baskets and everyone was filled. So much so, that twelve baskets full were leftover. You have to wonder if the twelve remaining baskets was intentional on Jesus part to remind the disciples to bring what they had. When I showed up at the paddle board shop I brought what I had, me. Everything else was supplied by someone else. What would happen if you and I simply brought what we have to Jesus? How many spiritually hungry people could be fed?
Just bring what you have. It’s time to ReSet.
Perfect!! So logical and common sense, but something most of us overlook, in looking at ourselves and feeling “no enough”!
Thanks Linda!

Just what I needed this morning! Thank you!
